Frank Thompson graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Geology degree in December 1974 and started with Tenneco Oil in Oklahoma City in January 1975. He spent several years on the Anadarko team and Arkoma team developing significant fields in both basins. He left Tenneco in 1982 to work with BHP Energy, a well-funded new company. BHP worked all of the Mid-Continent concentrating on the Pre-Pennsylvanian in Central Oklahoma and the Morrow in the Texas Panhandle and was successful in both plays. Frank was a consultant with Chambers Petroleum from 1986 to 1988, when he went to work for Yale Oil Association, Inc. He was with Yale for 25 years primarily working the Mid-Continent, but was involved in projects in Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, South Texas, Mississippi, Illinois, and West Virginia. During that time, Frank was active in most of the deep plays in the Anadarko Basin and up to the shelf. He also worked the Arkoma Basin, where they developed several nice fields and capitalized on exposure to the horizontal Woodford play. He left Yale in 2013 to partner with Gulf Exploration, L.L.C. where they have concentrated on shallow oil deals in Oklahoma and 3D projects in Kansas and Nebraska.
